Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’

Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’ is an armed agave with thick frosted blue-grey leaves and pale, heavy teeth along the margins. The rosette is built from thick overlapping leaves, each ending in a sharp terminal spine.

The cold-toned leaf colour, thick blade texture and pale spines define this cultivated Agave titanota selection. It needs bright light, quick drainage and dry intervals so the leaves remain firm and the central crown stays dry.

Visual traits of Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’

  • Growth habit: Compact to medium rosette with thick, rigid leaves.
  • Leaf colour: Frosted blue-grey tones across thick succulent leaves.
  • Spines: Pale cream to whitish marginal teeth and a sharp terminal spine.
  • Leaf texture: Thick, firm leaves store water and mark easily if handled roughly.
  • Rosette detail: Bud imprints may appear as the leaves press together while developing.
  • Root zone: Needs a lean mineral mix that dries fully between waterings.

Leaf and spine development in Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’

Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’ develops a compact rosette from thick overlapping leaves. The pale teeth give the edges a pronounced outline, while the blue-grey surface can show marks from old leaf contact, handling or water sitting in the crown.

Agave titanota is native to south-western Puebla and northern Oaxaca in Mexico, where it grows in seasonally dry tropical conditions. In a pot, ‘Blue Ice’ needs a lean, airy root zone and watering cycles that dry fully before moisture returns.

Care for Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’

  • Light: Provide very bright light to keep the rosette compact and the leaves firm.
  • Watering: Water the substrate thoroughly, then allow the whole pot to dry out.
  • Soil: Use a mineral-rich cactus or agave mix with excellent drainage.
  • Crown care: Clear trapped water from between the thick central leaves after watering.
  • Pot choice: Use a stable pot with drainage holes and enough weight for the armed rosette.
  • Temperature: Keep roots dry in cooler periods and avoid cold wet substrate.
  • Fertilizing: Feed lightly during active growth; slow, firm growth keeps the rosette dense.
  • Propagation: Offsets, when produced, can be removed once they are rooted and large enough to handle safely.
  • Handling: Move the plant from the pot rather than the leaf edges to protect the teeth and surface.

Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’ issue guide

  • Soft lower leaves: Wet or organic-heavy soil can lead to root and base rot.
  • Open rosette: Low light can make the leaves stretch and reduce the tight growth pattern.
  • Brown tooth damage: Spines and teeth can chip or scar during handling.
  • Leaf marks: The frosted surface can show cosmetic scarring from water, rubbing or pressure.
  • Pests: Inspect tight leaf bases for mealybugs or scale.

Safe handling for Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’

Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’ has sharp teeth, a strong terminal spine and sap that may irritate skin. Use gloves when repotting and place the plant where its armed leaf edges will not be touched accidentally.

Agave titanota ‘Blue Ice’ name note

The genus name Agave is commonly derived from Greek and interpreted as noble or admirable.

So cute
Size: 8-9, Color: Charcoal Faux Fur
These boot slippers are super cute and comfy warm. Fit true to size. Inside is real soft and warm. No, they do not offer support....they are slippers after all. The fur does not go all the way around the back. The back is just the woven sweater material but I imagine they would have zero stretch if the fur went all the way around. It may not be as cute without fur all the way but they probably wouldn't stay up if they didn't have the stretch material in the back so your only choice would be to let them slouch. I can pull them all the way up and they stay, I can do any degree of slouch and they stay so I see this feature as purely functional. Love the 2 tone with the suede around the toe and bottom but this is where my only complaint comes in is the sweater material right above the suede toe looks puffy so that part looks a little silly but otherwise they are absolutely adorable, comfy, warm and as functional as a pair of slippers can be. I wore them out in light rain and my feet stayed dry. The bottoms are like a rubberized fabric so they may soak through if you're in constant wet. Traction is surprisingly good even though it doesn't have a lot of tread. Overall i love them.

Stains easily. Tight for men's size 11 feet

Husband wore dark cotton socks over these gel foot covers overnight and the covers picked up color from the socks. Tried hand washing, even dabbing with a bleach soaked paper towel, but the stains remained. The covers are a bit tight for men's size 11. Edit: After a few more hand washings the stains began to fade. However one tore around the leg opening when taking it off.

Worthless. Tore on first use.
Flavor Name: XL silicone socks 2 pairs
The first time I put these on my feet, the whole toe broke right through. They were a proper fit and my feet are well pedicured. Just very poor quality. I don’t recommend.
